Ceterix rolls out medical device joint venture

A new way of repairing the knee’s shock absorber may give a startup Menlo Park medical device company a big bounce.

Ceterix Orthopaedics Inc. on Tuesday officially launched its first product, a device that helps doctors to place stitches in tight joint compartments, like those in the knees, hips and shoulders. It is aimed initially at helping doctors fix tears of the knee’s meniscus, for example, rather than removing the rubbery cartilage that cushions friction at the intersection of the lower leg and thigh bones.
