Ethicon LLC, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. and Ethicon US, LLC (collectively Ethicon) have sued Intuitive Surgical Holdings, LLC Intuitive Surgical, Inc., and Intuitive Surgical Operations, Inc. for infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 7,490,749 (Surgical stapling and cutting instrument with manually retractable firing member); 8,602,287 (Motor driven surgical cutting instrument); 8,602,288 (Robotically-controlled motorized surgical end effector system with rotary actuated closure systems having variable actuation speeds); 9,326,770 (Surgical instrument); and 9,844,369 (Surgical end effectors with firing element monitoring arrangements).  Ethicon accuses Intuitive Surgical’s Da Vinci Surgical System, and specifically the SureForm 60 devices of infringement of all five patents.
