December 20, 2013 – Based on the Board’s claim construction, the Board determined that there is a reasonable likelihood that NuVasive would prevail in showing unpatentability of certain claims.  Therefore, the Board authorized institution of an inter partes review of those claims.

June 27, 2013 – NuVasive files a Petition for Inter Partes Review at the U.S. Patent Office alleging that certain claims in U.S. Patent No. 8,444,696 are unpatentable.  The ‘696 patent is entitled “Anatomic Spinal Implant Having Anatomic Bearing Surfaces.”
