Medical Device Group

Start-Up Experience

The firm has long been active in the medical device industry. California’s history as a spawning ground for start-up medical device and instrumentation companies has resulted in the firm’s significant experience at all stages of development:  from the “garage” prototype through venture capital or other financing to the established, publicly-held corporations. Geographically, the firm’s experience includes practice throughout the United States and, through our close relationships with foreign counsel, in essentially every country throughout the world having a patent law or equivalent system.

Law and Technology Experts

At present, the firm comprises more than 275 lawyers and other professionals, nearly all of whom hold undergraduate or graduate degrees in either engineering or the technical sciences. This combination of law and technology makes Knobbe Martens uniquely qualified to represent a broad spectrum of high technology clients in intellectual property matters.

Our Team

Due to the technological diversity within the medical device industry, and the relatively large volume of medical device services performed by the firm, a number of lawyers and scientists who have a range of technical training are involved. Although not exclusive, the following members of the firm have significant experience in rendering patent law services to the medical device industry: (Go to www.knobbe.com for expanded biographies.)
