A Newport News-based durable medical device company has been acquired by an Orlando firm, according to a news release.

Aerocare Holdings Inc. of Orlando recently acquired First Choice In-Homecare for an undisclosed amount.

The sale included the purchase of Virginia Home Medical (VHM), which operates its Hampton Roads headquarters in the greater Oyster Point section of Newport News.

As part of the acquisition, the company will retain the First Choice In-Homecare name, and will offer more products and a larger network of national caregivers, the release said.

David Mills, the former First Choice In-Homecare owner, will now serve as the First Choice In-Homecare regional manager for southeastern Virginia.

Aerocare Holdings has more than 250 offices nationwide with a primary focus on respiratory care, the news release said.
