Shannon Lam

With a background in engineering, Shannon Lam is consistently able to create efficiency, precision and innovation in her intellectual property law practice. She advises individuals, start-ups and major corporations on global patent portfolio management, IP due diligence, competitive landscape analysis and USPTO post-grant proceedings in the medical device, food/beverage and consumer products industries.

Experience in both patent prosecution and post-grant proceedings has given Shannon honed insight into why patents are issued or revoked by the USPTO. Shannon consistently strives to obtain patents that provide valuable coverage, as well as to create cogent arguments that have the best chance of succeeding before the Patent Office.

Moreover, Shannon advises clients throughout product development. She is appreciated for her agility in designing patent strategies that parallel each client’s specific business goals. Whether a client is seeking investment, moving toward acquisition, or growing an existing portfolio, Shannon is able to develop patent strategies that align with the client’s objectives at any stage of a company’s life cycle.

Prior to joining the firm, Shannon worked for start-up medical device companies and at incubators, evaluating competitive patents and assisting with patent preparation. As a result, Shannon has first-hand experience regarding how such organizations make decisions, as well as what drives their development process and bottom line.
