David M. Cohen

David is a patent attorney registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and his practice focuses on providing intellectual property (IP) guidance to clients based on their specific business goals. David works with companies large and small and crafts a tailored approach to IP for each business based on a variety of factors, including business and investment goals, company stage, products and services, competitors, budgetary considerations, and others.

David provides legal advice to a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 to start-up companies. David has interests and expertise across a variety of fields and technologies that complement his work in computer software, distributed computing and storage systems, machine learning and artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital content distribution, mobile applications and gaming, augmented reality, user interfaces, sensors and sensor systems, data analytical methods, IoT, SaaS, communication systems and transceivers, aerial drones, medical devices, wearable devices, exercise equipment, mechanical devices, and many more.

David has experience working in buy-side and sell-side diligence assessing key competitor patent risk as well as helping craft trademark prosecution and/or IP litigation strategies. David also has experience with licensing and various forms of agreement work involving intellectual property.

While attending law school at USC, David spent time working as a Patent Pilot Program extern in the United States District Court, Central District of California as a shared resource for four judges. Prior to law school, David worked as an engineer at a prestigious civil engineering firm, and as a consultant at a software start-up. By utilizing his broad IP and technical expertise, David can obtain a deep understanding of the complexities and implications of a client’s technology.
