Raymond Smith, Ph.D.

Raymond D. Smith is a scientist in our Orange County office.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Smith held scientist positions at two biotechnology companies.  At Digital Gene Technologies Inc., he used the PCR-based TOGA method to compare mRNA expression profiles in tissue samples to identify gene targets for drug discovery.  At Senomyx Inc., he used patch clamp electrophysiology to characterize the action of synthetic agonists on ion channels believed to be involved in human taste perception.

Dr. Smith received his Ph.D. in molecular neuroscience and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the University of California, San Diego in the biology department.

Dr. Smith joined the firm in 2004.
